Praised as “fine grained” and “pristine” (Opera Now) Soprano Caroline Blair is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music supported by the Norman Ayrton Award. She is grateful to have been supported by the Wayne Sleep Foundation, Dame Patricia Routledge, Help Musicians and the Leverhulme Centenary Scholarship.  

Performed Operatic roles include Pamina - Die Zauberflöte, Taumännchen - Hänsel und Gretel, Almirena - Rinaldo, Frasquita Carmen and Lucia (Cover) The Rape of Lucretia for Royal Academy Opera, Amore - Orfeo ed Eurydice/ Second Woman - Dido and Aeneas for The Grange Festival and Galatea - Acis and Galatea for Ryedale Festival.

As an avid recitalist, Caroline has given recitals for many prominent UK Festivals including a Brahms lieder recital as a Ryedale Festival Young Artist, performances for the prestigious Academy Song Circle at the Austrian & Italian Cultural Forums and a contemporary English song recital alongside the renowned Roderick Williams and Christopher Glynn. In 2026, she made her Italian Debut for Musica di Casa Menotti featuring works by Berio, Berg and Turina. This recital was mentored by the world class Barbara Hannigan. Alongside this, she is a devotee of contemporary music. Caroline originated the role of ‘Kate’ in The Agency for Tête-à-Tête Opera, premiered ‘Taking Flight’ in the Royal Academy’s Duke’s Hall by Mary Offer, and notably performed Vivier’s Bouchara under the baton of Barbara Hannigan and the Academy Chamber Orchestra.

She is the 2022 winner of the Joan Chissell Schumann Lieder Prize, 2nd Prize winner for the Isabel Jay Opera Prize and upon graduation was awarded the coveted Principal’s Prize for outstanding merit and contribution. Outside of the Academy, Caroline was a finalist in the Royal Overseas League Singers Competition and was awarded a Masterclass Prize at the International Cesti Baroque Singing Competition where she returns to this summer.

Performed sacred works include Soprano soloist in Couperin’s Trois Leçons de Ténèbres (Duke’s consort), Bach Magnificat (Schola Cantorum Oxford), Haydn The Creation (Highworth Choral Society) Händel Messiah (Waterperry Opera Festival) and Mozart Mass in C Minor (British Sinfonietta).  

 Aside from classical singing, Caroline has been featured as a solo backing singer on Mercury Award Winning C Duncan’s Album Health and recent releases by the producer SAULT.
